About Our Company
Primary Industry Classification:Transportation Equipment Manufacturing
American Growler, Inc. (AGI) was founded in 1999 as an off-highway vehicle (OHV) design and marketing company. AGI was created from the assets of Utility Vehicles, Inc. (UTI) in YEAR.. During it’s approximately 10 year history UTI built and shipped approximately 1,000 vehicles to foreign militaries around the world. In the beginning AGI’s primary focus was converting military vehicles for civilian or foreign military needs. This effort involved design of new innovative frames and bodies and remanufacture of the existing drive trains from military vehicles purchased at surplus sales. These vehicles were marketed and sold worldwide. Due to initial low production requirements, all manufacturing was done by subcontractors with an existing metal fabrication and assembly manufacturing base. In late 2001 AGI was awarded a contract to design and produce 120 vehicles for the Army of the Dominican Republic. Following the delivery of the DR order one of our major thrusts was to design a completely new state-of-the-art OHV for the U.S. Marine Corps to be used with their V22 Osprey aircraft (patent no. US 7,681,892 B1). Winning this contract in 2004 for over 1000 OHVs gave us the volume and sustained production needed to increase the size of our manufacturing facility, expand our scope, and compete for additional military and civilian OHV business. Currently AGI is in full-rate production of both the M1161 and M1163 OHVs for the USMC, which are the only tactical wheeled OHVs currently certified by the US military to fly in the V-22.
