About Our Company

Primary Industry Classification:Machinery Manufacturing

Secondary Industry Classification:Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services
Established:1998
Kyma is a small company in Raleigh that has a full machine shop, about a dozen crystal growth tools, a suite of materials characterization tools, and a suite of materials fabrication (grinding, slicing, and polishing) equipment. We use this equipment (plus some partner facilities) to fabricate crystal growth equipment, crystalline semiconductor materials, and high performance semiconductor devices. Kyma's customers include small and large commercial device manufacturers around the world and US defense prime contractors. Kyma also benefits from strong US DOD and DOE R&D contract support, mostly for developing next generation semiconductor materials and devices. Many North Carolina customers rely on Kyma to make custom parts in Kyma's machine shop and a growing number of NC customers lease time on Kyma's machine shop equipment where they can make their own parts on their own schedule. Kyma also assists NC and other US companies in preparing federal R&D proposals and in the creation and maintenance of a compliant accounting system for carrying out federal R&D contracts.
